Angles part 2

''One is twice as larger as the other one", when given this phrase we know what the first angle is twice as big as the smaller angle. For example if they give you only one angle and it's v, you automatically know that the other side is v. Also the obtuse angle has to be 2v, because it is twice as larger as the acute angle. If they say ''One is 5 degrees bigger than the other" you know that the angle measures 5 more degrees, so that angle will measure x+5. You know when to assign a variable, if you do not know what is the angle measure. Corresponding angles are congruent. Vertical angles are also congruent, but supplementary angles are not. Two angles can not be supplementary and corresponding at the same time it can only be corresponding if the angles are across from each other but on different sides of the parallel lines. Two angles can be vertical and corresponding at the same times because corresponding angles are congruent and so are vertical angles. The four angles that are formed around a line and a transversal ALWAYS equal 360 degrees.

Angles part 1

When you set an equation equal to 90 or 180 you have to  determine whether the angle is 180 or 90 by looking at the angle and seeing if it is 180 or 90 or if it is congruent or not. We we set angles equal to each other in a equation that means that the angles are vertical and or congruent. If we solve for x that doesn't mean that we finished solving for the equation. The answer will not be correct because we have to solve for the missing side not for x. Do you know what congruent means? Congruent means the same. Vertical angles are congruent they are across from each other and they measure the same. Complementary and supplementary angles are not congruent. Angles that are congruent are corresponding angles and vertical angles.

Vertical Angles

Do you know what congruent means? Congruent means when angles have the same measure. When you have vertical angles you automatically know that there are two angles that are across from each other, measuring the same. A quadrilateral is a four sided polygon. If you only have one angle in a intersecting quadrilateral you CAN find the other angles because , they are vertical angles. If one side of the vertical angle is 67 degrees the other side is 67 degrees.

Pythagorean Theorem Wrap-up

In my opinion the Pythagorean Theorem method is very useful because the formula (a^2+b^2=c^2) helps you find the missing side of the right triangle. REMEMBER this formula can only be used for right triangles. The hypotenuse is the longest side of the right triangle opposite of the right angle. The legs however are the smallest sides of the right triangle.
For example, the distance from the corner of the ice ring to the other side is 30 yards. The distance from the corner of the ice ring to the left side of the ring is 40 yards. What is the distance from the corner of the ring to the middle of the ring?

Well first you have to apply the formula a^2+b^2=c^2. Then plug in your numbers for the variables. 30^2+40^2=c^2. Then solve for a and b. 600+1600=c^2. Then you add that and you get 2200. Finally take the square root from both sides. You'll get about 46.9.

"Laws of exponents part 1"

Yes we can expand any variable with an exponent. For example x^2 equals x*x. The exponent of the term is 1. A pattern that i noticed was that every time you multiply variables with exponents you have to add the exponents, for example x^4 * x^3 will equal x^7. You can derive that every time you multiply exponents you have to add the exponents to get your product.

"Laws Of Exponents Part 2''

3rd graders listen up!! Laws os exponents are when you multiply exponents with the same variables its base such as v^2 * v^3, the product of the expression is v^2+3 which is equal to v^5. 

Also when you divide exponents with the same variable as its base such as n^7/n^3, the quotient of the expression is n^7-3 which is n^4.

"Pythagorean Theorem"

The opposite of squaring a number is finding the square root of a number.The Pythagorean Theorem formula means
it only works on right triangles. The formula is a^2+b^2=c^2. Yes you can draw a picture of it. We can apply the Pythagorean Theorem in real life, for example if you are carpeting your room, you might have to use the formula. A real life example of a right triangle is a ramp. To identify the hypotenuse in a right triangle you will have to use the formula a^2+b^2=c^2. No the Pythagorean Theorem will not hold for non-right triangles because this formula only works for right triangles.If we were only provided with information containing one leg and the hypotenuse of a triangle ,and asked to find the other leg we would have to have to solve for b^2.

"Integral Exponents"

We cannot simplify expressions that do not have like terms because then there won't be nothing to combine. X^2y and xy^2 are not like terms because even though they have the same variables & exponents they are not written the same way. Xy and xyz cannot be combined because they do not have the same variables. The power of m^7 is 7, and the base is m. A negative base is a number or variable including a negative sign. If the base is x the negative base will be -x. A real life scenario involving exponents will be when you are putting carpet in your room.

"Unlike Terms"

X is different than x^2 because x^2 is x multiplied twice. For example, x^2= x*x. Yes,we combine terms that have the same exponent. They are called "like terms". To help you remember how to add and subtract integers you can draw a number line. 8m-2m is the same thing as 8m+-2m because if you subtract 8-2, it will be the same thing as 8+-2. Coefficients are numbers that are next to a variable. They are important because they tell you how many variables you have

'Like Terms"

Like terms are when you can combine an expression having the same variables and exponent.
100p and 3000p are like terms because they have the same variables. Yes we can combine them.
P and p^2 are not like terms because they both do not have exponents. We can not combine 2d+2f because they don't have the same variables. An expression cannot have an equal sign because ten it will not be an expression. It will be an equation.

Perimeter- Perimeter is the surrounding of a polygon.

The information in the box "A day in life the(of me!)" helps the reader understand the article because of the format, how they arranged it from time to time. It is also easy to read because it is in a list format. For example, they state a time like 6:30-7:00 , then they write what does she do between that time. Moreover it had the time in bold and what she does in regular font.

Moving Variables

To move one variable term to the other side of the equal sign, we have to subtract a number or add a number to both sides of the equal sign.In the problem 16j= 12 - 4j, we will have to add 4j on both sides because we need to get 12 by it self. The relationship between addition and subtraction is that they are inverse operation. "What we do to one side we must do to the other side" relate to a balance scale because a balance scale has equal balance, and in solving equations you have to get the variable by it self ,It equals out.
