"The Future Success Plan"

This project is important because it helps you get a glimpse on what your future can be like. This project is also important because it will help you understand what life can be like as an adult. For example, paying rent, car insurance and much more. This "Future Success Plan" can also be useful for the future. In the future I can probably even use this plan to help me keep track of my monthly expenses.

Romeo And juliet VS West Side Story

West Side Story is different from Romeo And Juliet because in West Side Story it is more modern. Instead of swords they used their hands, and weapons. In Romeo And Juliet at the end Romeo and Juliet both die. On the other hand in West Side Story Tony dies but, Maria does not kill herself because he died. I like both movies because they were interesting and the storyline was nice. I enjoyed watching both movies.

Romeo And Juliet

After viewing the play Romeo and Juliet, I think that play was really nice. I thought it was nice because at the end they both died and the enemies (Capulet's And Montague's) got along after Romeo's and Juliet's death. I also think that Juliet's mother would've not like Romeo and Juliet to be together because was their enemy. What I did not like about this play was when the father's messenger was supposed to take Romeo the letter, and he was taking long. Romeo passed by him and he did not do anything. If I had the opportunity to change the ending I would've made the messenger deliver the letter faster, so at the end when Juliet would wake up from the potion he would be on time and they would escape to Mantua.

Young Love, Old Divisions

After reading "Young love, Old Divisions" which was about a young girl named Beatriz and a boy called Lionel. They are young, and they really like each other. How ever, the school makes fun of Lionel for going out with a "Mexican Girl"(Beatriz), and to Beatriz they say "That's the girl that goes out with the black kid".Lionel's parents are African American and they don't mind Lionel going out with Beatriz, because in his family biracial relationships exists. Beatriz parents doesn't mind neither. However, they think Beatriz is too young to be in a relationship and they think she has a future ahead of her because, she has a "Social Security Number". I think that they are going to last because they like each other a lot. For example, when Lionel was in school and he passed by someone said "He goes out with that Mexican girl" He ignored them and kept walking.

I won the lottery!

This project was abut winning $50,000. We had to write a proposal about how we I spend my winnings. I had to use this money wisely because if not Ms. Pulphus(The president of Tech tiger association) would decline my proposal. We had to spend this money in two days. Spend every single cent of the $50,000. I bought things that can be useful for my future for example a car, microwave and others. I enjoyed working on this project because I learned how to spend money wisely. This project was some what difficult because my calculations kept turning out bad, I kept checking my work and it started seeming clearer and clearer. I checked my work one last time and I figured out that I miss calculated the puppy. If I were to work on this project again i would check my calculations before putting them on the pie graph.

"Back To The Future"

In my math class since the math tests are over, Ms. Pulphus decided to come up with a project about what were the cost of items in 1989, what price is it now 2009, and using percent change what will those items be in 2029. I enjoyed working on this project because we could've work with anyone you desire, i decided to work with Taina because she is very determined and hard working. To me, this project was a little bit difficult because of the graphs on Microsoft Word, it was very hard to get the axis together, but we got the hang of it. Instead we created 2 graphs so that it can be easier for us. 4 on each graph since there was a total 8 items. On the other hand it was helpful because in the future i can create graphs on Microsoft Word. If i had the chance to work on this project again i will definitely create 2 graphs right off the bat, instead of going through a lot of work creating one.

The day before the event.

I feel confident about the Math State exam because I feel that I know all the standards and everything I need to know for the test. My opinions of 8th grade math in general, is easy. I will admit I don't understand some measurement standards, but I know what I need to know for the state exam. Some activities I would like Ms. Pulphus to plan after the test are , trips, math projects like the measurement project last year, and many more! I think I am prepared for high school because I am confident in what Ms. Pulphus thought me this year. I learned new things, and I mastered many standards I didn't know how to do last year. What makes me confident that I will succeed in high school are my averages, they are above an 80 and I am confident that I will get the same in high school as well. I really don't have areas that i have to improve because I am never late, I am also never absent. 3 academic goals I would like to accomplish by June 24th(Graduation) are improve my skills in measurement, increase my 86.60 average to at least a 88 or 90 average and participate a lot in projects and activities.

REWARDS- social studies.

It is unfair because people that doesn't work hard shouldn't receive the same awards as people who work hard because the people that work actually work hard to win/ receive awards. On the other hand those that don't work receive awards with even trying or working hard like the others, to me this is an unfair treatment. I think that those who don't work hard should not receive the same as those who does work hard.

Mood- Poetry

The mood of this song is sad because in this song ne-yo saids a line "Nobody's talkin',
'Cause talkin' just turns into screamin'. And now as I'm yellin' over her, She yellin' over me." He is also mad because no one remembers why they started fighting. I think Ne-yo wrote this poem with the mood sad because it expresses the way he feels towards his girlfriend.

Bx Masquerade #1

I like this book because it not boring and it has a lot of characters that are funny. I Can connect with Chankara Trope because she did not let let her self down when her boyfriend hit her. She is my favorite character because she has a lot or personality. When her boyfriend touch her in a place that she did not want to be touch she slapped him and told him to get out. I least favorite character is Wesley because he does not have a lot of personality.

Poem Reflection- Changes

What i can infer about this poem is that people back then disliked people with color. The word that best describes the poets feelings is sad, because there was a lot of racism. The main idea of this poem is to never give up and to keep on going.
I connect with this poem because to this day there is still racist people.

* 8th Grade State Math Test

I fell confident for the Math state test next month because i think that i am prepared. I have been preparing for the math test in school and out by doing homework and much more. Unfortunately i am not confident with Measurement conversions, i need a little more work on that.
I think it is important to come to school daily because for one day you miss you can be missing out on a lot. I also think it is important coming to school daily because you can understand the lesson more.

* "Transformations - Conclusion"

  • I enjoyed this unit a lot because each type of transformation has different rules. A translation when u slide a figure to a different location. A dilation is when u change the figures size without changing its shape depending on the scale factor. A reflection is when you flip a figure over a line of symmetry. A rotation is when you turn an object around a center point. You can apply a reflection in real life when you look at yourself in the mirror. You can also apply a translation in real life by moving a ramp.

* "Transformations - Rotations"

When drawing rotations we turn our papers so that it can be easier for us to plot our coordinate points. This is predicting where and how the figure is going to be because you will get a visual when you flipped the paper. A rotated figure will NEVER change in shaper or size. It will only change its position and location. A rotated figure is different from a reflection because a reflection has the same distance apart. However, in a rotation the figure rotates around the center, the original and prime figure does not have the same distance apart. If we rotate a figure 90 degrees clockwise and the then rotate it again 90 degrees counterclockwise the figure will end up in the same location you started in. This will also happen if you rotate a figure 360 degrees counterclockwise. The difference between rotating a figure clockwise and counterclockwise is that when you're rotating a figure clockwise the figure will be going right. When you rotate a figure counterclockwise the figure will go left.

Poems & Proses.

I think that poems are better than proses because poems make words sing.

Poems bring excitement. I also think that poems are better because poems are short and it gets right to the point. However articles are very long and they aren't as interesting as they are in poems.

Transformation- Reflections

A reflection is like a mirror image because it flips over, and it does not change in size nor shape only its location. You can reflect an image over the x-axis or y-axis without knowing the exact rules by imagining how it would look like on the other side. For example if you look at your hand and you flip it over, you just made a reflection. Just like when you look at yourself in in the mirror. The original figure and its reflection is exactly equal distance from the line of symmetry because the figure just flipped over. Therefore when a figure reflects the original and prime figure has to have equal distance. Yes i do think we could determine the line of symmetry if we were given the points of the original figure and the image. When looking at the two figures, i know which one is the transformed one because the transformed image's points are represented by a letter with an apostrophe.

"Transformations - Dilations

Dilations-

A dilated figure can change in ONLY size and location NOT in shape ! Do you have a camera? Well if you do, notice that when you zoom into a photo the picture gets bigger, the size changes, and the location. Zooming into a photo can relate to dilations because when a dilate a figure it changes in size, and location. The way this works is by using a scale factor. A scale factor is a number used as a multiplier in scaling. If a figure undergoes a dilation with a scale factor of 1.5 it will get bigger because they way the scale factor works is "If the scale factors are greater than one, the figure will get larger. If the scale factors are less than one the figure will get smaller.'' For example, if the scale factor is 0.5 the figure will get smaller because 0.5 is smaller than one.
Dilations are different from translations because a translation only slides; it slides left, right, up or down the shape does change. However, in dilations the figure does change size and location. Multiplying by 1/3 is the same as dividing by 3 because since the inverse operation of multiplying is dividing, you can divide the number by the denominator.

Transformations- Translations

When looking at the two figures i know that the transformed one is the figure in which the letters that represent the vertices's have a comma after the letter. For example A', B', C',D'.
The new points are called primes. The kind of words you can use to describe a translation are; A copy of a figure, or a sliding
. A translated figure will NEVER change in size or shape because it is only sliding up, down, left, or right. You can translate a figure without a coordinate plane by subtracting the x or y axis by the coordinate points, depending on the location the figure is translating.
